Gallbladder Cancer
Uncommon cancer developing in the gallbladder. Often detected late.
Overview
The gallbladder is a small organ under the liver. This cancer is hard to diagnose because it often causes no specific signs early on. Sometimes found unexpectedly during surgery for gallstones.
Symptoms (Often Late)
- Persistent abdominal pain, especially upper right.
- Nausea and vomiting.
- Jaundice (yellow skin and eyes).
- Lumps in the abdomen.
- Fever and chills.
- Weight loss and appetite loss.
Therapeutic Challenges
Surgery is the best option if the cancer hasn't spread.
Extended Cholecystectomy
Removing gallbladder, part of liver, and nearby lymph nodes.
Palliative Treatment
Procedures like stenting to relieve jaundice and pain.
